Bringing forth a baby into this world is an extremely special phenomenon for every mother. Hospitals and labor rooms could be intimidating and scary to many. If it was up to them a majority of the mothers would love to have their baby in the comfort and safety of their own homes. Especially in the current times, infertility is something that affects more couples than we can imagine and most of them suffer in silence owing to the taboo surrounding the subject in India. The current fertility rate for India in 2021 is 2.179 births per woman, which happens to be a 0.95% decline from 2020.

A woman’s body expels cells and fluids in the form a vaginal discharge during various phases of her life. Vaginal discharge is quite a common phenomenon in menstruating women and this can begin as early as when the first periods begin during adolescent years. A number of factors like menstrual cycle, pregnancy, hormones or infections can cause a difference in consistency or color of the vaginal discharge.

When it comes to infertility, the prejudice and stigma that is associated with it in our country is a longstanding one. It is on the road to change nevertheless, but there still is a long way to go. Both the terms infertility and subfertility are often used interchangeably but it is important to understand that these are not synonymous terms. Infertility is when the couples who have been trying to conceive haven’t had any success in a year and may require medical intervention. Subfertility on the other hand is a form or fertility that has been reduced due to various causes.
